Driving License
Getting your Driving License
In the province of Ontario, you need to be at least 16 years old in order to get a license. Beginning in April of 1994, the province of Ontario implemented graduated licensing. There are three steps that you need to do in order to get your license.
in the beginning of the process, you will get a Driver's Handbook, which can be found in any bookstore, convenience shop, or MTO facility, in addition to several other places. After that, you may travel to the Ministry of Transportation office that is closest to you and take a theoretical G1 test on or after your sixteenth birthday, provided that you have read the handbook. You are needed to bring a total of $125.00 and two pieces of identification with you. If you are successful in passing the examination, you will be awarded a G1 license, and twelve months from that date, you will be qualified to take a practical road test.
- You are need to fulfill a number of requirements in order to get a G1 license, all of which are intended to assist you in gaining experience prior to taking your road test.
- Each and every time you are behind the wheel, you are required to be accompanied by a driver who has a minimum of four years of experience driving a G class vehicle.
- Between the hours of twelve and five in the morning, you are not permitted to operate a motor vehicle.
- Unless you are accompanied by a qualified driving teacher, you are not permitted to drive on any highways that have posted speed restrictions of 80 kilometers or more, including any of the 400 series highways. This restricts your ability to drive on these routes.
- At all times, you are required to keep your blood alcohol level at a level of 0.00%.
- You are not allowed to have more people in your vehicle than the number of seat belts for them.
- The waiting time for your first road test may be reduced from 12 months to 8 months if you attend an authorized driving school like ours after you have obtained a G1 permit. This reduction is available to you if you complete the course. Following the conclusion of this time of waiting, you will be able to take your first road test.
